Old Rectory Farm, a 17th Century dairy farm, is a fully restored demonstration farm open throughout the year and free of charge. The farm is situated within Sheldon Country Park, a 300 acre area comprising open grassland, wetlands, old hedgerows and some mature woodland. There is also a newly refurbished outdoor play area for the children.
A rare opportunity to see farming in action! Old Rectory Farm operates as a fully working, demonstration farm. This 17th Century dairy farm is home to Jersey cattle, pigs, goats, ponies, ducks, chickens and geese and uses traditional methods of farming. The Parks Ranger Service is based at Old Rectory Farm, which is situated at the main entrance to the park.
As well as the farm, Sheldon Country Park has become a haven for wildlife. With just over 300 acres comprising open grassland, wetlands, old hedgerows and some mature woodland there is a whole world to discover. Follow the winding brook through blackberry gorses and past the horses all the way to the bottom of the runway at Birmingham International Airport where you can do a bit of plane spotting whilst picnicking!
With large football fields and loads of space this is a great place for ball games and kite flying! We also have a fantastic newly refurbished outdoor play area for the little ones and an onsite café within the farm. Keep an eye out for events that take place throughout the year, especially the annual Sheldon Country Park Fair!
